But a possible marriage raises an unexpected question about Susan’s past that casts a shadow on her parentage. “The Clandestine Betrothal was just what I wanted to read on a chilly winter afternoon and I found myself transported to the glamorous world of the Regency. The characters are well drawn and the dialogue sparkling and there are no real villains to stand in the way of the happiness of the main characters.

Sometimes a happy ending is just what you need and this book provides just that. I can remember reading books by this author many years ago and it is good to see them available again as ebooks so that they can be read by a new generation of readers.”

"Written almost 50 years ago, this novel has stood the passage of time well. An enjoyable straightforward romance I really liked the main characters & how the story developed”

“The characters were well drawn and very likeable. I was especially fond of Aunt Hattie. Although she could talk a lot without saying much, I didn't mind because she did most of it on purpose. She knew exactly what was going on and what needed to be done to move forward.

There was one twist in the storyline which took me completely by surprise and I am not easily deceived. Therefore, I absolutely love it when an author manages just that! However, the biggest secret of all to do with Susan's parentage was revealed too early and too easily.”
